Advantages of Campus and Student Dormitory

Environment of Turkish Universities and Advantages of Student Dormitories

Türkiye has a great student-friendly education system. Turkish universities maintain a very good standard of education. But aside from education, other facilities provided by the universities are also of a high standard. Every Turkish university provides facilities like dormitories, playgrounds, libraries, laboratories, and many more. Today we will know the campus environment of Turkish universities and the benefits of student dormitories.

Campus Environment and Safety:

Turkish university campuses are very neat and clean, relatively big, and often located outside the city in a serene place close to nature. For example, Kocaeli University in Kocaeli province has a campus size of 6500 acres. Some university campuses feature modern futuristic faculty buildings while other elder universities feature classic old fashion building designs. Turkish university campuses are safe and free of any political activities. All the universities have highly secured campuses where only students and faculty members are allowed to enter. A strict campus security system utilizes metal detectors, x-ray machines, and armed and unarmed guards at all entry points.

Campus Facilities:

University campuses have huge centralized libraries with huge collections of books. The libraries are most of the time digitalized and the whole process of issuing and returning books is done using a student ID card or national ID card. For practical education, all the universities have sufficient modern laboratories with up-to-date pieces of equipment. Universities also have gymnasiums and swimming pools which students can use for free. Under the Sports Faculty, other indoor and outdoor sports fields and pieces of equipment are also available. Almost all the universities have Football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, and rugby fields. There are central and faculty mosques for students to pray their daily prayers. Transportation for students in all the Turkish cities is very convenient.

Buses, trams, and metros take students directly to university campuses from various points of the city. Every city has special transport cards for students that give them a special discount. Even, some city like Konya, Kocaeli, Trabzon provinces provide free services to international students on all public transport. Some larger campuses have free bus services taking students to and from faculties inside the campus.

Residential Facilities:

University students are provided with government and private dormitories. The dormitories are neat and clean and said to have a quality equivalent to a three-star hotel! The security of a student dormitory is as high as that of a university campus, often requiring fingerprint scanning to enter and exit. The dormitories commonly have facilities like study rooms to sit and study in a quiet environment, mosques for daily prayers, entertainment rooms with television and indoor game such as table tennis, laundry rooms with washer and dryer machines, conference saloons, gymnasiums, mini football turfs and many more.

The catering service of dormitory canteens is centralized and standardized. Breakfast and dinner are served in the dormitory canteens while lunch is served in the university canteens. Students living in public dormitories called KYKs have to pay a minimum fee whereas students who live in a private dormitory get almost two-thirds of their fees paid by the government through subsidies. Moreover, Ph.D. and Research students are provided with villas inside the university campus where they can stay with their families.

All in all, the campus environment and dormitory facilities in Turkish universities are excellent, with all the universities maintaining a minimum standard. The cleanliness and safety of the dormitory and campus along with all the facilities make for a fantastic learning environment for students where they have to think about nothing else but studies and can completely focus on learning. Turkish universities provide their students with the environment needed to turn them into leaders who will, in all sectors, act as driving forces toward a better and more sustainable future.
